Sunrise Nutrition Consulting LLC strives to be the leader in outpatient nutrition therapy for those with food and body image struggles throughout Kansas. We are a nutrition consulting private practice located in Southeast Kansas. Services are provided in person in Hesston, Hays andWichita, as well as via telehealth through a secure portal. We specialize in treating a variety of nutrition and eating struggles in the outpatient setting, helping people find peace with food and body.
We offer weight inclusive care informed by Health at Every Size ®, the Ellyn Satter Institute andIntuitive Eating. We do not offer weight loss counseling, however we address weight concerns frequently as we help promote a positive relationship with food, body, movement and self care.We help clients to tune into & trust the messages their body shares with them. We accept most major insurances as well as HSA/FSA.
Position Overview
This position combines two of our most important areas of work, office assistant and insurance biller. This position will begin with an initial training period & regular reviews for the first 90 days.Willing to train the right candidate.
The position will begin at approximately 7 to 13 hours per week for training & will grow to 15-20 hours / week by the end of the year. There is potential to grow into more hours as the practice grows. During the training period, training will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. most likely on Mon / Thurs / Friday (as scheduled with the supervisor). Once training is completed hours may be flexible within requirements of the position.

Responsibilities and Duties - Office Assistant & Biller
Office Assistant Portion of the Position:
● Tech support. If you are not good with tech, this is not the position for you.● Detail oriented. If you are not great with details, this is not the position for you.● Phone System: Receiving & process all texts / calls / voicemails● Faxing: receiving, uploading & requesting client treatment information.● Use of Simple Practice Electronic Medical Record● Maintain customer relationship management (CRM) system which includes fielding client referrals, responding to referral sources, & completing inquiry & appointment requests● Assist new clients in completing intake paperwork process & scheduling sessions● Complete basic bookkeeping duties as assigned● Maintain mailing list & Newsletter● Updating website (Squarespace) & social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram)● Make copies and create handouts with guidance● Maintain list of referral sources (Excel or Google Sheets)● Request & maintain testimonials & client evaluations (Google Forms)● Assist in applying for continuing education for healthcare professionals● Create and assemble marketing materials, letters, flyers, etc. (Canva)● Update client release of information (ROI) & communicate rate increases when needed
(minimum of each January/February).● Additional administrative tasks as assigned
Insurance Billing Portion of the Position:● Credentials & maintains credentialing for clinicians● Complete insurance verification & benefit eligibility checks for new clients.● Submit prior authorizations & predetermination requests, gather necessary letters of medical necessity & medical records from Primary Care Providers (PCPs) to support prior authorization requests. Fax necessary support info when requested. Follow up with the insurance company to ensure timely completion of prior authorization & predeterminations
● Review, correct and submit claims/invoices for payment using Simple Practice EMR.● Check insurance payments for accuracy and bill clients as needed.● Assist with coding to ensure payment of claims.● Ensures accurate posting of insurance payments, and adjustments from Remittance
Advice in a timely manner.● Posts write-offs, account adjustments and corrections daily to the patient accounts.
Enters and reconciles all charges and credits to patient accounts.● Resubmit corrected claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.● Submit re-considerations, re-determinations, and appeal when applicable.● Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information.● Assist patients and staff with billing questions. Provides billing customer service duties.● Maintain patient accounts receivable.● Follow-up with payers on unpaid claims and take corrective action.● Generate patient and insurance refund requests.● Assists Practice Manager with any assigned daily, monthly and yearly reports.
● Perform various other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications & Skills:● Minimum of a high school degree● Preferred 1-3 years of experience as an administrative assistant or in office work● Alignment with the company’s values listed above● Must possess excellent written & verbal communication skills● Excellent attention to detail & ability to keep track of multiple pieces of
information● Able to collaborate and work professionally with a team● Communicate needs, concerns, etc. clearly and quickly● Self starter & Ability to manage own schedule● Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills● Demonstrate self motivation and initiative● Maintain a clean, well-kept appearance & dress in a professional manner● Technology skills - ability to figure out tech issues for the company.● Technology savvy: Basic knowledge of Canva, Mailchimp, Google Workspace, Excel,
Word● Flexibility in tasks - things change & we update processes as we determine what will work best. If you are not flexible, this is not the position for you.● Ability to ask for assistance when needed & own mistakes when they occur.● Willingness to take on new tasks as needed as the business grows. Future work could include coordinating & planning a workshop or retreat, organizing a group run by clinicians, etc.
● Prefer experience with BCBS, UHC, Cigna, Aetna and Medicare, however, being willing to learn & research to teach self is also adequate.
