SUMMARY:
DAWSON is seeking a Munitions Response Project Manager to support our growing environmental team that is executing technical consulting work throughout the country. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects that include Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC). This project manager will work on detailed and routine environmental assignments addressing engineering, geology, biology, ecology, chemistry, and regulatory issues. The ideal candidate will work closely with Senior Project Managers and Program Managers to support project management duties, development of environmental reports, and field tasks. This position offers the opportunity to learn and gain experience across a range of environmental projects that include restoration, remediation, compliance, NEPA assessments, and munitions response. Duties may include project management, data analysis, scientific and technical report preparation, public involvement, field operations, proposal preparation, and training of junior staff. The position may be based in Huntsville, Alabama; Fairfax, Virginia; Denver, Colorado; Charlotte, North Carolina; or may be a telework position.

- Annual Salary: $105,000-$120,000 based on interview and experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and budgets
- Lead project team members, providing guidance, direction, and support throughout project lifecycle
- Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or risks
- Track project expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints
- Communicate project status updates to stakeholders, including senior management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth and timely completion of project deliverables
- Conduct project evaluations and learnings, identifying areas for improvement
- Provide regular reports and documentation on project progress, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Manage project submittals including meeting minutes, monthly progress reports, work plans, and project reports.
- Develop and maintain vendor and subcontractor relationships and assist with Contracts/Procurement to support project execution.
- Work with Senior Staff, Project Delivery Teams, and Project Controls to document client- or project-specific financial reporting including managing purchase order requests and distributions.
- Assist Senior Staff in tracking project financials and identifying risks.
- Manage deliverables ensuring compliance with project requirements and submittal deadlines.
- Execute and manage task orders while maintaining cost and schedule.
- Support specific portions of a broader assignment in conjunction with experienced senior and project staff (engineers, geologists, biologists, ecologists, archaeologists).
- Gather and correlate environmental data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Work on routine environmental assignments involving engineering, geology, biology, ecology, chemistry, and other related fields; some engineering and geologic analyses may involve conducting calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Periodic business travel is required and expected about 25-30% of the year; overnight travel is required. Travel is anticipated to consist of fieldwork at project sites, client visits, and work at partner offices across the United States. The position may involve outdoor fieldwork at sites across the United States. Fieldwork may require the candidate to walk over uneven terrain up to 8 hours per day.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in environmental consulting; additional years of experience preferred.
- Experience on DoD or USEPA projects in accordance with CERCLA preferred.
- Experience managing munitions response projects is REQUIRED; experience managing munitions response projects involving AGC is PREFERRED.
- Must be capable of authoring and overseeing authorship of technical documents; strong technical writing skills are required.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training (CFR 1910.120) and current 8-hour refresher
- Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Must possess a valid drivers license with a clear and satisfactory driving record.
- Must be capable of accessing government properties based upon a background check.
- Bachelors degree in any natural or environmental science or engineering discipline from a U.S. accredited college or university is required
- Advanced degrees (e.g., MS, PhD, MBA, MEM) will be viewed favorably.
- Professional licensure or board certification (e.g., PG, PE, DABT, CEP, PMP) or willingness to obtain registration (preferred)
