Trial Attorney
A nationally recognized personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to join its growing litigation team. Founded in 2003, the firm has recovered more than $1 billion for property damage and personal injury clients nationwide and has nearly 100 attorneys across more than 30 offices throughout the Central and southeastern United States.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigator with 6+ years of litigation experience who has a strong track record of handling complex personal injury matters and taking cases through trial. The ideal candidate will have meaningful first-chair jury trial experience, strong negotiation skills, excellent client relationship abilities, and a demonstrated commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage personal injury cases from initial evaluation through settlement or trial.
- Meet directly with clients to understand their cases, provide legal guidance, and establish trust and confidence.
- Evaluate liability, damages, insurance coverage, and the overall value of claims.
- Develop and implement effective litigation strategies tailored to each case.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claims, demands, settlement offers, and case status.
- Negotiate settlements and work to maximize client recovery.
- Prepare cases for trial, including pleadings, discovery, motions, evidence, witnesses, and trial strategy.
- Handle depositions, mediations, hearings, and other litigation proceedings.
- Take cases to trial and effectively represent clients in court.
- Lead trial preparation and manage all aspects of trial presentation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, settlement demands, and other legal documents.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide timely updates throughout the litigation process.
- Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure effective case management.
- Identify legal and case-related issues proactively and develop practical solutions.
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with litigation deadlines and applicable procedural requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- 6+ years of litigation experience.
- Significant personal injury litigation experience preferred.
- Member in good standing of the South Carolina Bar.
- 5 or more jury trials as first chair preferred.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and trying cases.
- Strong understanding of personal injury claims, liability, damages, and case valuation.
- Superb negotiation and settlement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong courtroom advocacy and litigation skills.
- Ability to build trust and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Proactive and strategic approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to manage matters independently while working effectively within a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
