The American Heart Association is thrilled to have an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Specialist, Special Project Manager at our National Center office located in Dallas, TX . This is a part time and benefits eligible opportunity. This role will work on-site from our National Center offices from 20 to 25 hours per week through Sept 30, 2025 .

This resource will support our Finance team during a critical year-end period. This short-term role will play a key part in addressing revenue processing backlogs and driving improvements within core finance operations. The ideal candidate will be experienced in revenue management, process evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration, with a focus on ensuring timely and accurate financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Revenue team to assess and process outstanding backlogs to support timely year-end financial close.
  • Analyze existing workflows and financial procedures to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to document and recommend enhancements to revenue recognition and other core finance functions.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting on backlog progress and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and applicable regulations throughout project work.
  • Provide hands-on support across departments as needed to streamline operations during peak financial reporting periods.
  • Adhere to the American Heart Associations established policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all project-related activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in financial operations, revenue management, or project management.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for identifying process gaps and driving improvements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience in managing time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools; experience with nonprofit finance is a plus.
  • Availability to commit to the temporary assignment through September 20, 2025.
