We are a well-established leader in millturn CNC technology. We specialize in large, complex multi-function machines designed for handling very large and heavy workpieces. Our company is expanding its presence in the US, with operations becoming increasingly self-sustaining through dedicated regional sales and technical support teams.

Job Summary

Position: Applications Engineer (CNC Programmer/Machine Setup Professional) Focus: Qualification and runoff of new machines, development and tryout of new cutting sequences, production support, and customer training on our machines at customer sites throughout the U.S. The role is highly customer-facing and travel-intensive (60–80%), involving hands-on technical work, programming, troubleshooting, and training at customer facilities. Candidates should be comfortable with autonomy, travel, and both technical and instructional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Program and troubleshoot complex millturn parts from various industries using state-of-the-art CNC technology.
  • Discuss machining process-related topics with customers and the applications department.
  • Conduct cycle time calculations and process sequence charts.
  • Perform qualification and runoff of new machines at customer sites.
  • Develop, program, and try out new cutting sequences.
  • Provide production support at customer facilities.
  • Train customer personnel on programming and operation of millturn machines.
  • Request and present information effectively through spoken or written communication with external and internal customers.

Requirements

Hard/Technical Skills

  • Experience with macro programming and use of variables in CNC code (G and M code proficiency required; macro-level programming preferred)
  • Solid understanding of CNC machine functions, work holding principles, and tool setup.
  • Strong background in applied metal cutting (turning, milling, drilling, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating multi-axes machine tools.
  • Ability to read and evaluate complex 2-D part drawings and 3-D models.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Valid US passport and clean background (required for government-related facility access).

  • Excellent planning skills and efficient time management.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for effective interaction with customers and internal teams.
  • Customer-directed and service-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Siemens (Sinumerik 840D) control system.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM and CNC simulation.
  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating multi-axes multi-function millturn-type machine tools.
  • Familiarity with workpiece probes for in-machine measurement and alignment.
  • Macro programming and use of variables in CNC code.
  • Conversational programming experience.
  • Experience with exotic alloys.
  • Personable, presentable, and comfortable instructing/communicating with customers and small groups.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 (depending on experience).
  • Annual Bonus: (dependent on company performance).
  • Car Allowance: $750/month.
  • Mileage Reimbursement
  • Per Diem: $69/day for food while traveling.
  • Travel Expenses: All flights, hotels, rental cars, etc., reimbursed (employees book their own travel and submit expense reports).
  • Other: Paid insurance plan, retirement plan, paid time off, company-provided laptop and cell phone, job-related training

Location

  • Remote / field-based; candidate can reside anywhere in the US with reasonable access to a major airport.
  • Extensive travel required (60–80%+), primarily nationwide in the US
