Job Description

Job Description

CAET PMC is seeking a hands-on Construction Project Manager (CPM) with strong experience in commercial ground-up and/or remodel projects. This role is ideal for a self-sufficient builder who thrives in fast-paced environments and is comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish.

This is not a corporate, layered-management role. The ideal candidate has real-world, boots-on-the-ground experience running projects independently, not overseeing them from a distance.

Position Overview

The CPM will be responsible for managing 5–6 active projects at any given time, typically ranging up to $5M in value, with aggressive timelines of 110–180 days per project. Projects are often fast-track and require decisive leadership, strong organization, and the ability to adapt quickly.

This role requires full ownership of the project lifecycle, including estimating, planning, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor management, and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and timelines across multiple concurrent jobs
  • Coordinate with Superintendents to manage subcontractors, materials, and equipment
  • Actively monitor job progress to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Perform estimating, bid leveling, and subcontractor procurement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors
  • Negotiate contracts and change orders effectively
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and report any violations
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and local authorities
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting through company systems and client portals
  • Step into a Superintendent role when needed to support field operations
  • Recruit, train, and manage field personnel as required

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience managing commercial construction projects up to $5M
  • Strong track record of delivering projects on tight timelines (110–180 days)
  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously (5–6 at a time)
  • Background in ground-up and/or remodel work, preferably in restaurant, retail, or quick-serve environments
  • Ability to operate independently and take full ownership of projects
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and plan interpretation
  • Experience in pre-construction, estimating, and subcontractor procurement
  • Knowledge of building codes and Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS)
  • Strong negotiation, organization, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
  • Proficiency using Excel, Microsoft Office, MS Project, or similar construction software
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed (primarily Texas, with some regional travel)
  • Ability to work nights or off-hours when project demands require

Additional Expectations

  • Safety-first mindset across all projects
  • Strong leadership with a hands-on approach
  • Ability to build and maintain subcontractor networks across multiple regions
  • Comfortable working in a lean environment without layers of management support
