Job Description

CT Technologist – Full-Time Opportunity

The CT Technologist performs imaging procedures at a professional level without the need for constant supervision. This role requires independent judgment, critical thinking, and technical expertise in applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.


Schedule

  • Monday–Thursday
  • 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
  • Participation in a holiday rotation is required.

$20,000 Sign-On Bonus Available
A two-year work commitment is required.

Imaging & Technical Proficiency

  • Perform CT procedures using established scan protocols, including the administration of contrast, without requiring continuous oversight.
  • Apply independent judgment to adjust protocols and appropriately utilize ionizing radiation to achieve optimal diagnostic images.
  • Operate complex CT imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, reconstruct, and document image data, ensuring all procedures follow departmental standards.
  • Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and appropriate use of power injectors per departmental and manufacturer guidelines.

Patient Care & Communication

  • Administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and departmental policies; assess patients for potential risk factors before contrast administration.
  • Communicate instructions clearly and professionally, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety and encourage patient cooperation.
  • Interact with patients, families, and coworkers in a manner that reflects caring, dignity, respect, and strong teamwork.

Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Properly identify patients using two approved patient identifiers and adhere to universal protocol. Review patient history, physician orders, and apply appropriate protocols for optimal image quality. Document relevant history in the electronic record as required.
  • Ensure all exams are correctly coded and tracked in the RIS system. Confirm that images are properly sent to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and ensure all charges are accurately entered.

Education

  • Graduate of an ARRT‑approved Radiologic Technology programor completion of an accredited CNMT program.

Required Credentials & Registry Requirements

  • ARRT Certification as a Radiologic Technologist or certification through a CNMT program (required).
  • ARRT registry‑eligible technologists must obtain ARRT certification within 6 months of hire.
  • CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6 months of hire.
  • CT registry must be obtained within:
    • 18 months of acquiring the primary registry or
    • 18 months from date of hire if the primary registry is already held at hire.

State-Specific Requirements

  • CT Technologists working in New York who perform contrast media injections must:
    • Hold certification from ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), and
    • Be licensed through the New York State Department of Health.

Licensure, Certifications & Clearances

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
    • Must meet AHA standards, including both didactic coursework and a hands‑on skills demonstration, within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal).
  • Act 33 (with renewal).
  • Act 34 (with renewal).
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance (with renewal).

Temporary Permit Guidelines (if applicable)

If practicing under a temporary permit:

  • Cannot administer IV contrast or participate in contrast‑enhanced CT requiring IV contrast administration.
  • Must work under direct supervision of a licensed Radiologic Technologist.
  • Must obtain ARRT certification within 180 days of permit issuance.
  • Temporary permits expire on the earliest of:
    • 180 days from issuance,
    • Notification of license application denial, or
    • 10 days after notification of failing the licensing exam.
