Job Description
Job Description
At PSI Repair Services, we solve complex, real-world electronics problems that don’t fit neatly into textbooks or product manuals. Our engineering team designs and builds hands-on test and automation systems that support the repair, remanufacture, and life-extension of industrial electronic equipment.
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer – Test Automation & Sustaining Systems who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware, test, and problem-solving. This role offers end-to-end ownership of test fixtures and automation—from concept and schematic design through wiring, programming, and validation—working closely with technicians and other engineers.
This is a bench-centric, hands-on engineering role, not a desk-only or documentation-heavy position. Engineers in this role spend time designing, building, troubleshooting, and improving systems that are used every day in production. What You’ll Work On
Design, build, and validate electrical and electro-mechanical test systems for repaired and remanufactured electronic assemblies
Develop automated and semi-automated test procedures using Python or similar scripting languages
Create schematics, wiring diagrams, and light mechanical layouts for test fixtures and prototypes
Reverse-engineer electronic assemblies to support troubleshooting, repair strategies, and obsolescence mitigation
Evaluate systems at the component level and develop refurbishment or redesign solutions where needed
Troubleshoot test fixtures, prototypes, and customer hardware using oscilloscopes, DMMs, power analyzers, and related instruments
Partner with technicians and engineers to diagnose failures and improve test coverage, yield, and reliability
Document test methods, procedures, and best-known methods (BKM) to support repeatable quality
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that reduce test time and improve data accuracy
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering roles involving test systems, manufacturing support, sustaining engineering, or automation
Strong circuit-level troubleshooting skills (analog and digital)
Experience with schematic capture and layout tools (AutoCAD, OrCAD, Altium, or similar)
Programming experience in Python or comparable automation languages
Comfort working hands-on at the bench in an industrial or lab environment
Clear documentation and communication skills
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience with automated test platforms (Seica, Diagnosys/Astronics, Teradyne, or similar)
Exposure to power electronics or RF systems
Embedded systems familiarity
Experience in ISO-regulated environments
3D printing or light mechanical fabrication for fixture development
Why This Role Is Different
You’ll work on non-repetitive, real-world problems, see a wide range of technologies, and have direct ownership of systems from concept through validation. This role is well-suited for engineers who enjoy practical problem-solving, collaboration with technicians, and seeing their work used every day.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and hands-on capability.
