Overview

Electrical Project Managers report to a Division Manager and are responsible for the management, performance and completion of assigned projects in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company. Ideal candidates possess in-depth knowledge of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials within the commercial construction industry. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Requirements
  • Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses the physical fitness and visual acuity necessary to perform the requirements of the position, i.e., survey electrical rooms, climb ladders, walk on rooftops, open electrical panels, read equipment nameplate data, etc.
  • Monitor and control the Company’s established policies and procedures in the areas of, but not limited to: The Division Office Operations Procedures (General Policies and Operating Procedures); Vehicle usage; The Hazard Communication Program; The Quality Assurance Program; The Substance Abuse Program; The Safety and Hot Work Program; Policies concerning suppliers.
  • Monitor and control, by review and verification, all paperwork related to assigned jobs/work orders; Adherence to the Division Calendar to assure that weekly, monthly and quarterly schedules are met.
Engineering
  • Profit/loss of assigned jobs.
  • Monitor and control the job processing responsibilities on assigned projects.
  • Monitor and control estimating including, but not limited to, the following: Assignment of estimators to specific projects; Ensure estimates are entered into the Estimate Log; Ensure that all paperwork and other procedures are adhered to; Review and approve estimates and design/build projects within authorized limits; Preparation, bidding and re-estimate of assigned jobs and work orders; Recommend changes concerning material, labor, and EPAS; Preparation of pay-request breakdowns and monthly pay requests; Purchasing of all material for assigned projects plus verification of orders placed; Material approval submittal procedure; Preparation, submittal and processing of change orders and revisions. Accountable to management for: Project related general, technical and engineering problems (field and owner related); Monthly Job Status Updates and Post Job Conference Reports; Expediting materials and subcontracts; Satisfactory completion of assigned projects.
Production
  • Accountable to management for monitoring safety on the project and job security for material, tools and equipment; storage facilities; Monthly Job Productivity Reports; Productivity of assigned jobs/work orders; Efficiency of jobs/work orders; Wage rates, labor, training and supervision; Personnel management to ensure employees start and stop work on time; Fleet management; Storage facilities on job sites; Use, coordination and supply of division tools, trucks and equipment.

License and Certifications
  • Licenses: Current driver’s license if required by job conditions; applicable federal, state and local licenses as required by job conditions or by the company.

Education
  • High School Graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent Watson training.
Working Conditions
  • Majority of work is performed in office environment.
  • Visits to job sites require exposure to all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow), depending on time of year and job location.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required in Safety Handbook.
  • Able to work 40 hours per week and any overtime as required including: night shifts, and out-of-town jobs if needed.

Physical Function
  • Hear and see well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Sit for long periods of time.
  • Speak clearly.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder, or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
