Job Title: Electrician I or II

Department: Building Maintenance

Reports To: Building Maintenance Manager

Pay Range: $61,395-94,540

SUMMARY: The Electrician I is responsible for performing skilled electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair work across terminal buildings, support facilities, and airfield infrastructure at six Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) airports. This position is responsible for maintaining 14 CFR Part 139 compliance for all airfield lighting systems, illuminated airfield signage, and RIAC-owned navigational aids through timely, accurate, and documented maintenance activities. Employees are expected to work independently within their trade, demonstrate accountability for assigned tasks, and consistently and accurately document work performed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

· To install, inspect, maintain, alter and repair electric wires/cables (including high-voltage systems) power appliances, motors, generators, and related equipment.

· To install, inspect, maintain and repair all types of electrical traffic control devices and signaling systems.

· To lighting control systems, fire alarm systems, and HVAC electrical components.

· Perform work on airport runway lighting, airfield signage power systems, and related infrastructure.

· Complete work orders accurately and within expected timeframes.

· Maintain clear and accurate documentation of work performed, materials used and time expended.

· Comply with applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Electrical Code (NEC), and RIAC Safety requirements.

· Work nights, weekends, holidays, emergencies, and inclement weather as required, including be available to work on the snow team during winter weather events.

· Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 139, as it relates to airfield lighting systems, illuminated airfield signage, and RIAC–owned navigational aids.

· Complete required corrective actions accurately and within assigned timeframes to support regulatory compliance and operational safety.

· Maintain awareness of the operational status of airfield electrical systems and promptly communicate conditions that may affect compliance or airport operations.

· Maintain effective communication with supervisors, Operations, and other airport personnel using assigned two-way radios and other authorized communication systems.

· Complete required daily work reports, including tasks performed, locations worked, materials used, and time expended, in accordance with RIAC reporting requirements.

· Accurately document completed work and observations in the computerized maintenance management (CMMS) work order system to support operational coordination, management oversight, and regulatory compliance.

· Other related duties as assigned.

· Demonstrated, working knowledge of electrical trade practices, applicable electrical codes, and safety standards, with the ability to apply them consistently in operational and safety-critical environments.

· Proven ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to perform accurate installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

· Ability to perform assigned work independently with limited supervision, exercising sound judgment, situational awareness, and adherence to established procedures.

· Ability to safely perform work from ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts, and bucket trucks in accordance with established safety protocols.

· Must pass a required background check for security credentials which must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

· Ability to obtain within 3 months from hire and maintain Movement Area authorization as a condition of continued employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

· Completion of a certified apprenticeship or equivalent combination of training and experience

· Minimum of four (4) years of experience performing electrical maintenance in industrial, transportation, or critical infrastructure facilities.

· Experience responding to service calls, completing work orders, and documenting corrective actions.

· Experience with high-voltage systems or demonstrated ability to safely work in energized environmentsin accordance with established procedures.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

· Rhode Island Class B Journeyperson Electrician License or Class A which must be maintained as a condition of employment.

· Valid driver’s license which must be maintained as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

· Frequent climbing (ladders, stairs), balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling.

· Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.

· Use hands/fingers for detailed work (fingering, feeling, grasping).

· Excellent vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception), talking, hearing, distinguishing colors/shades.

· Ability to hold steady positions and work in various postures for extended periods.

· Required to work in all types of weather conditions to maintain airport lighting, NAVAIDS and various electrical systems.
