Overview
We are expanding our Tech team and are looking for an experienced Java developer to join us. If you want to work with smart and ambitious people, international customers, large datasets and solve valuable problems in a small and efficient team; Burt is for you.
You
You are an experienced developer who enjoys solving real problems, understanding complex systems and getting things done. You’re comfortable exploring unfamiliar code and figuring things out independently, but also enjoy collaborating with others to move projects forward.
We believe programming is a craftsmanship that can be applied across languages and platforms. You share that mindset and can pick up new technologies as needed. In this role, you will primarily work with Java in a data intensive environment, building and evolving large scale database systems. We are looking for someone with experience in database architecture and query performance, particularly in high cardinality datasets. Experience working with time series data is a plus. Beyond that, we work with technologies such as Git, Ruby, Python, AWS, SQL, and TypeScript.
You have a few years of experience building and maintaining software products, especially data intensive systems, and take pride in writing clean, reliable code. You’re pragmatic, curious, and motivated by making an impact rather than following strict processes.
We’re looking for someone based close to Gothenburg. The position is semi-remote, with regular collaboration both online and in person.

The role
You will work cross functionally with product, success, and sales solving our current customer needs and building out our solutions.
A large part of your work will focus on Java services and our data platform. Customer data is spread out over hundreds of different systems, in various formats, accessed in a variety of ways. Data is downloaded, aggregated, normalised and combined into a single source of truth. You will help design, build and optimize the systems and databases that power this pipeline.
You will also participate in building the many products we provide on top of the data. Reporting, anomaly detection and forecasting are a few examples of areas you might be involved in.
