Gas Distribution Laborer
C.J. Hughes Construction

C.J. Hughes is seeking a dedicated Laborer to join our natural gas and water pipe installation crew. The ideal candidate will assist in daily operations, performing physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions while maintaining a strong focus on safety and teamwork. While flagging may be required on occasion, this role primarily involves using hands-on labor to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform physical labor, including digging, lifting (up to 75 lbs.), carrying, and handling materials and tools.
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas and water pipelines.
• Follow directions precisely and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Maintain a heightened awareness of safety procedures, especially within the “red zone” of heavy equipment operations.
• Use tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete tasks.
• Adapt to various work locations and schedules, including the ability to travel, work overtime, and stay overnight as needed.
• Set up and remove barricades, traffic cones, and warning signs when flagging duties are required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Plastic Fusion Experience (preferred but not required).
• At least 1 year of construction labor experience (preferred).
• Strong communication and listening skills to follow directions and collaborate with the crew.
• Experience with flagging and ATSSA Certification (preferred).

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• Clean background and ability to pass a drug screening.
• Willingness to relocate before starting work.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.

Position Details:

• Job Type: Full-time
• Pay: $17.54 - $21.75 per hour
• Expected Hours: 40–60 per week
