Position Description
Job Title: Portable Field Technician
Reports To: Branch Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:
We are seeking Portable Field Technican that will play a critical role in supporting branch operations by ensuring timely delivery, setup, maintenance, and retrieval of HVAC rental equipment. This position requires a hands-on, customer-focused individual with mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prioritize and execute delivery and pickup schedules; adapt to changing job site needs.
• Safely operate company vehicles up to 26,000 lbs to transport HVAC rental equipment
• Install and set up portable cooling equipment at commercial job sites.
• Inspect, clean, and perform basic repairs on rental equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Maintain accurate equipment inventory and track units using inventory management software.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the branch and on job sites.
• Communicate effectively with the Branch Manager regarding job requirements and customer needs.
• Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, contractors, and vendors.
• Participate in rotating 24/7 on-call schedule for emergency service support.
Education/Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift 50lbs. and work in varying environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor, hot/cold, noisy).
• Must be able to pass a medical DOT exam.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and handheld/mobile devices.
• Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment preferred.
• Strong communication, customer service, math, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively in a team setting.
