Job Description
Company Overview:
American Community Developers, Inc. is a real estate development and management company headquartered on the east side of metro Detroit. The company and its affiliated businesses employ more than 150 people and operate across multiple industries, including multifamily housing, recycling operations, and e-commerce retail. We maintain a modern IT environment and provide a professional office setting with a collaborative team culture. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wide range of technology systems used in day-to-day business operations. This position is ideal for someone early in their IT career who enjoys solving problems and wants to learn how real-world business IT systems operate.
Reports To:
IT Manager
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day IT support for office staff, troubleshooting issues related to computers, printers, email, software applications, and mobile devices
Diagnose technical issues and research solutions using documentation, system logs, and online resources before escalating to senior IT staff
Because the IT team handles a wide range of technical work, responsibilities will be assigned based on the individual’s experience and skill level, ranging from basic support tasks to more advanced technical projects
Set up and configure new desktop computers and laptops, including operating systems, software, and user accounts
Help support and configure office network and security systems, including WiFi and camera systems, under the direction of senior technical staff
Assist with general IT infrastructure tasks such as hardware installation, equipment upgrades, backups, and system maintenance
Occasionally assist with general operational tasks outside of traditional IT duties (e.g., delivering documents, organizing equipment, helping move or set up office furniture, or supporting basic facility needs). A willingness to pitch in where needed is important for this role.
Provide occasional after-hours assistance when necessary for system maintenance, equipment servicing or IT emergencies
Work Environment
On-site position (no remote allowed)
Primarily based in the Harper Woods headquarters office (approximately 70 team members) as part of a three-person technology team, with occasional on-site support at nearby properties in Grosse Pointe, Detroit, Hamtramck, and surrounding communities.
Opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of technologies including on-site servers, cloud systems, backup systems, SQL databases, and software development environments
Standard Monday–Friday office hours with occasional after-hours work for system maintenance, upgrades or IT emergencies
Advancement Opportunity
This position offers the opportunity to grow into a broader technology role over time. Because our IT team supports many different systems, motivated individuals will have the opportunity to gain experience in areas such as:
Network infrastructure and security
Server administration and backup systems
Cloud services and hosted applications
Database systems and SQL environments
Business software systems and integrations
Software development and automation tools
Team members who demonstrate initiative and technical interest will have opportunities to expand their responsibilities as part of the company’s growing technology environment
Required Experience
Prior IT experience is helpful but not required
Any hands-on technical experience is a plus (for example: building your own PC, running a home network or home lab, working with gaming hardware, experimenting with software or hardware systems, or similar interests)
Basic familiarity with Windows computers and common office software
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Typical Software & Systems
Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Various accounting and business software packages

Positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems
Good communication skills and ability to assist non-technical users
Organized and dependable with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a small team environment
Comfortable working in an office environment and occasionally performing light physical tasks (moving equipment, setting up workstations)
Benefits
