The RestaurantBastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna & Bel, which is a 50-room hotel in the historic former Penn Home. Both the hotel and restaurant opened in August, 2024. We butcher whole animals, make bread in-house, have an extensive handmade pasta program, and maintain close relationships with farmers in the region.The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, having been listed as one of the Best New Restaurants in America by Esquire Magazine and as the #1 restaurant in Philly by Philadelphia Magazine. We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for guest experience and culinary excellence and are aiming to develop the next generation of ambitious cooks and chefs.The Role The Line Cook is in charge of preparing their station, maintaining a clean work environment and executing their station with excellence. This integral position plays a key role in safely preparing delicious and consistent food. The days of the week to be worked are flexible.ResponsibilitiesIn charge of setting up and breaking down their station daily. Assisting with stocking, labeling, dating, ordering, receiving and following proper food safety procedures. Preparing food including: cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks. Plating prepared foods based on the chefs' guidance.Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to requests on time and in full. Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of each shift.Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.Checking food prep and storage areas to ensure they don’t violate any health codes or safety regulations.Ideal Candidate Working knowledge of kitchens and restaurant operations. Is hard working, has a keen attention for detail.Has a positive “we can” attitude. Experience in multitasking.Genuine desire to be helpful: able to jump in and assist other departments when necessary.Works cooperatively with others in all situations.Enjoys a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. Candidate works well in a team environment.Candidate is detail oriented and highly organized.Candidate has excellent interpersonal, communication and people skills. Works with professionalism and is self-driven.Has a passion for hospitality, service, food and beverage.Requirements & ExperienceKnowledge of cooking techniques.High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand, up to 8 hours per shift. Flexible in schedule and willing to meet the demands of a complex operation. Time management skills.Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
