Position: MRI Technologist
Reports to: Diagnostic Imaging Operations Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
We are looking for a MRI Tech to perform and ensure appropriate quality control, provide requested scans/films of high diagnostic quality based on the specifics of each case, interact effectively and professionally with radiologists, patients, referring physicians and their staffs, and fellow employees while maintaining the best possible patient flow and throughput at all times. Perform related task such as assisting patients, maintaining and ordering proper levels of supplies, maintaining cleanliness of work areas and performing routine clerical functions as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately interprets physician’s instructions and orders.
- Perform required quality control procedures and ensure proper operation of equipment at all times.
- Works in partnership with the receptionist to enhance patient flow and work efficiencies.
- Receive and greet patient, obtain necessary medical history including questions relating to any possibility of reaction. Instructs and informs patient about the procedure.
- Ability to scan on a low field open Hitachi MRI and use AI/DL software.
- Select software options and imaging parameters to achieve desired images. Operate equipment according to specific/recognized procedure and in conformance with established routines and techniques. Review images to ensure acceptable quality and completeness for diagnostic purposes.
- Immediately reports any concerns relating to the equipment operation.
- Provide images of high quality, coordinating and communicating with the referring physician or their staff as required.
- Coordinate services with UOI physician supervisor.
- Handle patients in a caring, courteous and professional manner at all times.
- Proficient evaluation of patient ability to tolerate requested exam(s).
- Ensure images, examination requisitions and other related records are properly completed to ensure correct patient identification, statistical and billing information.
- Ensure that additional studies are authorized by the referring physician’s offices and properly documented.
- Responsible for maintaining complete and organized records of repairs requested and made on all equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times. Adhere to HIPPA regulations.
- Responsible for overall cleanliness of the office and clinical areas at all times.
- Provides coverage for MRI reception as needed.
- Ability to operate on multiple PACS platforms and assist with PACS issues such as anomalies and combined folder.

- Ensure that supply inventory is maintained at adequate levels at all times, equipment is in proper working order and/or contact service for adjustment and repairs as warranted.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Conceptual ability to determine means of providing requested studies based on the specifics of each case.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Sensitivity to the needs of patients, ability to put patients at ease when in distress.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Possesses analytical skills to compile and interpret data.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide proper patient care.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills to perform all exams, as outlined by governing bodies, and the Orthopedic MRI of RI protocol.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience using a Tesla .3 open Hitachi MRI with AI technology producing 1.2-1.5 clarity and Musculoskeletal Imaging exams is a plus.
- Physical dexterity and strength to operate all types of MR related equipment, properly position patients and handling of patient films and files.
- Ability to stand and or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma plus two years of training at an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Must be a registered technologist and have obtained adequate additional training in cross sectional anatomy.
- Obtain and maintain additional accreditation and/or certification (s) required by the State, federal government within areas of expertise and to personally maintain the highest professional recognition levels available.
- Submit a copy of yearly CME reports to Orthopedic MRI of RI management.
- Registered technologist (ARRT); MR Certification.
