Quick Facts Location: 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 Start Date: 07/13/2026 End Date/Duration: 16-week contracts accepted Shift: Day shift (5x8-hour) 08 30 (Mon Fri) Hours/week: 40 (can be offered) Employment Type: Traveler / Contract License/Certs: ASCP PA Experience: Minimum 3 years experience required; Traveler experience required Pay & Benefits Hourly Pay: $84.60/hr Pay Schedule: Weekly pay via direct deposit Benefits: Comprehensive medical benefits ( W-2 ) Additional Programs: Robust referral bonus program Time Off: Paid sick time in accordance with applicable state/federal/local laws Reimbursements: Licensure certification, travel, and other reimbursements when applicable Support: 24/7 dedicated team committed to your success throughout your time with VHS Note: Licensure/Certification and travel reimbursements when applicable (per benefit listing provided) What You ll Do Perform gross examinations and dissection of large/complex surgical pathology specimens Handle small biopsy gross examination and dissection Prepare tissues for histological processing , including specimen fixation as needed Support specimen receipt and labeling , including accurate specimen handling Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic evaluation Participate in tumor triage workflows based on clinical/patient information Perform adult and fetal autopsies as required by assignment Obtain and/or review relevant patient clinical information (e.g., scans/x-rays/lab results) to support workup What You Need Required ASCP PA Minimum 3 years relevant experience Traveler experience required Experience in hospital clinical laboratory workflow and surgical pathology gross handling Ability to perform gross examination/dissection and support tissue preparation/histological processing Preferred Specimen accessioning experience Ability to cut and stain frozen sections Experience with postmortem examinations Experience with removal of brain and spinal cord Gross/microscopic photography Master s degree (preferred) About the Assignment This assignment is in a pathology-focused laboratory environment within a leading facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina . You ll work day shifts with a Monday Friday schedule and complete hospital orientation in the first week (including required class availability each day during orientation).
