Location: COPC: C.V. Roman Primary Purpose Provides psychological evaluation and diagnoses for mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and psychological tests. Formulates and administers programs of treatment. Minimum Specifications Education
Must have a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA accredited university and have completed an internship with an APA accredited program.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
Must be licensed a Psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
Required Tests for Placement Skills or Special Abilities
Defined as a psychologist who provides services in a highly specialized area of psychological practice (i.e., child, palliative, pain addictions, corrections, etc.).
Has had explicit training, supervision, and clinical experience or certification working directly in the specialty area. Has trained in a dedicated specialty setting. This typically means practicum, internship, post-doctoral training and/or fellowship with a focus on the specialty area. Has the breadth and depth of training to be able to provide treatment thoroughly and accurately.
Has significant experience working with a variety of cases from start to finish to be considered competent and proficient in providing specialty treatment.
Must possess sound and applied knowledge of the development of the symptoms being treated
Should be trained in evidence-based specialized treatments (EBSTs). Prefer certification in the use these treatments
Requires familiarity with Clinical Psychology and competency in basic psychological assessment techniques, psychotherapeutic intervention, family systems, and developmental orientation.
Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age related and handicapped patients' needs.
Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
Preferred:
Spanish proficiency is preferred.
Responsibilities 1. Contribute to policy and practice guidelines for the specialty area by evaluating best practices and treatment outcomes. 2. Serve as a member/leader of interdisciplinary team in specialty area and participates in planning and development of treatment programs for patients. 3. Educates the larger Parkland community about services and best practices related to the specialty area. 4. Provides psychological assessments through personal interview, review of records, interviews of third parties and/or formal evaluation procedures and makes/classifies mental health diagnosis, identifies problems, and determines plan of intervention to optimize psychological service to internal and external customers of PHHS, while maintaining a positive working relationship during all contacts. Assesses and intervenes in crisis and emergency situations. 5. Provides psychological treatment through personal interaction to aid patients to relieve emotional distress/psychiatric symptoms, clarify patient goals/priorities, expand social support networks in group or family format and find adaptive solutions to current life problems, while interacting in a professional manner to assure optimal psychological services are provided to the internal and external customers of PHHS. 6. Collaborates with referring providers/professional colleagues to better understand and address the needs of patients' psychological and social needs. May receive or make referrals to external or other internal service providers/clinics for appropriate continuation or follow up care/treatment while maintaining a positive working relationship with all internal and external customers of PHHS. 7. Provides a thorough written record of all therapy/counseling sessions including a comprehensive report addressing patient's presenting problems and current needs, and documentation of all relevant information/contacts pertaining to the patient while observing confidentiality laws and carrying out the goals and objectives as established for PHHS. 8. Identifies and analyzes the design of counseling, interventions, assessments, medical and psychological referrals, patient access, processes, etc. for psychological service. Modifies approach, communication, and interaction to take account of sensory impairments and specific needs of all customers in particular, older adults. Implements or recommends appropriate changes to improve customer service, effectiveness, and efficiency that support the goals of PHHS. 9. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in clinical psychology by attending seminars or workshops, reading professional journals and/or actively participating in professional organizations and integrates this knowledge as appropriate into the position. 10. Serves on various committees, participates in clinical staff meetings for collective problem-solving activities, while maintaining a positive working relationship with all contacts to promote a harmonious and cooperative atmosphere with all internal/external customers. 11. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Psychology area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding. Requisition ID: 996340
