Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections of CRA applicant and licensed businesses to verify compliance with the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA), Michigan Regulation and Taxation on Marijuana Act (MRTMA), Marihuana Tracking Act (MTA), Industrial Hemp Research and Development Act, or the associated administrative rules. Review applicant or licensee information, data, compliance history, and approvals prior to inspections; prepare detailed reports according to procedure; provide consultation and assistance to new and existing licensed businesses in accordance with the same statutes. May be required to testify in administrative hearings or other legal proceedings.

Location

The Regulation Officer will primarily work in one of the following counties: Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb. Preference will be given to candidates living within these counties. Candidates may occasionally assist in other counties based on operational needs.

Education
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree.
Experience
  • No specific type or amount is required (Regulation Officer 9).
  • One year of experience providing professional regulation officer services equivalent to a Regulation Officer in state service (Regulation Officer 10).
  • Two years of experience providing professional regulation officer services equivalent to a Regulation Officer in state service, including one year equivalent to an intermediate level Regulation Officer (Regulation Officer P11).
  • Two years of experience as a State Police Detective Sergeant or its equivalent may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Three years of such experience may be substituted at the intermediate level; four years at the experienced level; five years at the advanced level.
  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active‑duty experience at or above the E‑6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
