The Mermaid Inn on the UWS is looking for an experienced floor manager to join its operations team.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being actively present in the dining room, supporting staff, engaging with guests, and maintaining smooth day-to-day service. The position is focused heavily on hospitality leadership, team communication, and operational oversight rather than purely administrative work. Responsibilities include helping manage service standards, coordinating portions of the front-of-house schedule, monitoring guest experience, and ensuring efficient daily operations.

The ideal candidate is positive, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced environments. A strong awareness of dining room activity, service flow, and team performance is essential. Key Responsibilities:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Several years of front-of-house hospitality experience in roles such as server, bartender, captain, maître d’, or similar
  • Prior restaurant management experience in a fast-paced urban dining environment
  • Familiarity with scheduling, reservation, POS, and office software platforms
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Food safety certification required or willingness to obtain shortly after hire
  • Alcohol service certification is a plus
