Amazon Music Japan is seeking a Social Media Manager to lead day‑to‑day social channel operations, develop social‑native content, and support social activations across brand campaigns, content promotions, and tentpole moments. This role will contribute to building our social strategy, collaborating closely with brand, content, creative, industry, and PR teams as well as global stakeholders. You will manage our official social channels (Instagram, X, TikTok), drive engagement with Japanese audiences, and support planning and executing for paid social amplification.

Key job responsibilities

You will work with key social and digital platforms such as X, Instagram, and TikTok. You will shape how Amazon Music shows up in social spaces by setting direction, guiding agency partners, and ensuring our content aligns with brand, audience, and campaign objectives. Success in this role requires sharp customer instincts, excellent project management skills, a strong ability to interpret insights, and a passion for creative innovation. You will help define best practices, steer platform strategy, and ensure our social presence evolves with culture.

  • Lead and develop social strategies and campaigns across brand initiatives, artist content, music festivals, livestreams, partnerships, merch, and cultural moments.
  • Set the social content direction and priorities, ensuring alignment with brand, content, and marketing objectives.
  • Guide and oversee our social agency as the primary owner of day‑to‑day posting, content adaptation, and community operations—holding them accountable for quality, timeliness, and brand consistency.
  • Bring a social‑first perspective to integrated marketing campaigns, tentpole events, and platinum content launches.
  • Support social media amplification planning in partnership with brand and media teams, including channel mix recommendations, boosting strategy, and KPI‑setting.
  • Drive insights and performance reviews to optimize content strategy and inform future creative development.
  • Collaborate closely with brand, marketing, creative, PR, content, artist/label relations, livestreaming, and global social teams to deliver cohesive and culturally relevant campaigns.
  • Manage social agencies to deliver best‑in‑class content experiences for Japanese audiences.
A day in the life

You will collaborate across the organization to support and execute social strategy for tentpole campaigns and partnerships. A typical day might include reviewing agency content, refining the editorial plan, aligning with brand and content teams on campaign messaging, participating in creative development meetings, or leading social direction for content capture with artists. This role blends strategic thinking with creative oversight to bring fans closer to the music, creators, and cultural moments they love.

Our team wants to help our customers discover up‑and‑coming artists, while also having access to their favorite established musicians. We focus on building a personalized, curated, and seamless music experience across our music apps, web player and all Alexa‑enabled devices, including Amazon Echo products. Amazon Music offerings are available in countries around the world, and our applications support our mission of delivering music to customers in new and exciting ways that enhance their daily lives.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of professional (non‑internship) experience in marketing, advertising, or social media
  • Native‑level language proficiency in Japanese
  • Business‑level language proficiency in English
  • Experience generating and executing marketing/social media executions across platforms with a track record of growing audiences and delivering on engagement metrics.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies/partners/artists
  • Experience working in or with creative and social media agencies in Japan
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of key social networks, nuances and algorithms.
  • Able to build strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience creating and executing integrated marketing including leveraging paid/dark social ad campaigns
  • A genuine passion for engaging with music industry, artist, and creators
  • Experience managing agency relationships, creative and media plans
  • Experience with social publishing and analytics tools (e.g. Sprinklr etc)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced work environment, readily adapting to continually changing priorities, nuanced feedback, and aggressive project time frames
  • Track record of driving adoption of new ideas and pioneering new approaches within your team or company
