  • Salary Range: $87,000–$102,000 annually, Direct Hire
  • Location: Wichita, KS (Full Onsite)
  • This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.

As a Stress Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity, reliability, and safety of advanced aerospace platforms. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design, certification, and operational excellence while contributing to the development of next-generation aircraft.

What You’ll Do

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing structural analysis using classical hand calculations and finite element analysis for metallic and non-metallic structures.
  • Supporting design teams from conceptual and preliminary phases through detailed and critical design.
  • Reviewing designs to determine preliminary sizing, reinforcement strategies, and structural load paths.
  • Preparing and maintaining formal engineering documentation such as structural analysis reports and specifications.
  • Presenting technical findings and design reviews to internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Writing, reviewing, and approving structural substantiation reports in compliance with regulatory authorities such as FAA, TCCA, and EASA.
  • Assessing primary and secondary aircraft structures, as well as flight test installations, for static strength.
  • Conducting fatigue and damage tolerance analysis aligned with mission profiles.
  • Supporting Material Review Board (MRB) activities and operations as needed.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant stress or structural analysis experience.
  • ITAR eligibility (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident).
  • Proficiency with FEM tools such as Patran, Nastran, Nasgro, or Altair.
  • Experience with CATIA V5.
  • Strong background in hand calculations and classical structural methods.
  • Understanding of aircraft structural load paths and analysis methodologies.
  • Knowledge of civil aircraft certification rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MRB activities.
  • Integration or cross-functional engineering experience.
  • Advanced understanding of static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis.
  • Experience supporting certification or regulatory compliance programs.

Pay Details: $87,000.00 to $102,000.00 per year
