*Job Description: for Design Engineer II: **Job Title:* Senior Design Engineer Location: Rochester, MN*Job Summary:* Emcor Enclosures is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex design initiatives for the rapidly growing AI and defense markets. In this high-impact role, you will take ownership of major custom projects for hyperscale datacenters and defense contractors.You will act as a technical subject matter expert, particularly in the design of OCP (Open Compute Project) compliant racks and heavy-duty seismic enclosures. This position offers the opportunity to not only design but also to guide junior engineers and influence the technical direction of our catalog and custom product lines.*About Emcor Enclosures:* Emcor Enclosures is a leading manufacturer of high-quality electrical enclosures specializing in electrical cabinets and 19\" racks for a variety of industries and known for our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. We offer a dynamic work environment with a focus on creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.*Responsibilities:** Lead Design: Architect to support and develop complex electrical cabinets and server racks, specifically focusing on OCP ORV3 (Open Rack V3) and high-density liquid cooling integration. Provide technical direction; oversee design reviews to ensure accuracy and manufacturability.* Project Management: Interface directly with key customers and sales teams to translate complex requirements (thermal, seismic, stmctural) into manufacturable solutions.* Technical Analysis: Perform and review advanced FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and thermal load calculations to validate designs before prototyping.* Process Improvement: Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFtvf) initiatives to reduce cost and lead times in sheet metal fabrication.* Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs meet strict industry standards (EIA-310, UL, Telcordia, OCP).*Qualifications:** Qualifications:* Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree is a plus).* Experience: 5-7 + years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within sheet metal fabrication or enclosure manufacturing.* Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of OCP (Open Compute Project) rack architecture and hyperscale datacenter requirements.* Technical Skills: Expert-level proficiency in CREO CAD software.
