Responsibilities
In this newly created role, the Employee Relations Manager will lead prompt, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations while supporting Related’s people strategy. Partnering with HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and business leaders, the ER Manager will address employee concerns, manage performance and conduct matters, ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies, and promote a respectful, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace.
We’ll trust you to:
Lead Workplace Investigations & Resolution
- Lead investigations into complaints involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, fraud, policy violations, ethical concerns, and potential OSHA or workplace safety violations
- Support investigations related to workplace accommodations (e.g., ADA) in partnership with HR and Legal
- Develop investigation plans; conduct interviews; gather and analyze evidence; maintain detailed and consistent documentation
- Prepare clear, objective findings and recommendations in partnership with HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and Safety
- Ensure investigations are timely, confidential, and legally compliant
- Support resolution of employee concerns through coaching, mediation, corrective action, and informal resolution as appropriate
Support Employee Relations, Performance & Compliance
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners and managers on performance management, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution
- Partner with leaders to develop, implement, and monitor performance improvement plans (PIPs) and corrective action documentation
- Provide guidance on accommodations, workplace safety obligations, policy interpretation, and best practices for managing sensitive employee matters
- Ensure consistent and compliant application of policies and employment practices
- In partnership with compliance, stay current on federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., EEO, ADA, OSHA, wage and hour)
- Identify systemic issues, compliance risks, or trends and recommend proactive solutions to strengthen culture and mitigate risk
Reporting & Training
- Track investigation metrics and trends; prepare reports and insights for HR leadership
- Contribute to manager training on investigations, performance management, accommodations, workplace safety, fraud prevention, and respectful workplace practices

Qualifications
- 5+ years employee relations experience with significant workplace investigations exposure
- Demonstrated experience conducting complex, sensitive investigations and supporting performance management and disciplinary processes
- Strong knowledge of employment laws (e.g., harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ADA, OSHA, wage and hour)
- Experience in multi-state and unionized environments preferred, including familiarity with CA, CO, IL, MA, and NY employment laws
- Excellent interviewing, analytical, and written communication skills
- Objectivity and sound judgment
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
- High emotional intelligence with ability to influence across organizational levels
- Calm and effective under pressure
- Undergraduate degree required
