Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary Range: $45,000 to $60,000 per year
Position Summary
A growing organization specializing in GMP-certified supplement manufacturing is seeking a skilled Encapsulation Operator to join its Research and Development support team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of production operations and scientific innovation, supporting both small-batch prototype development and larger-scale manufacturing runs. The ideal candidate brings hands-on encapsulation experience, a detail-oriented mindset, and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-moving, science-driven environment.
The dietary supplement and nutraceutical industry continues to experience significant growth, driven by increasing consumer demand for health and wellness products. As a result, skilled operators who understand both the technical demands of encapsulation equipment and the quality standards required in regulated manufacturing environments are in high demand. This role offers meaningful career development potential, with pathways toward senior operator, R&D technician, or quality assurance positions as you build expertise and demonstrate performance over time.
You will work closely with R&D scientists, formulators, and quality assurance personnel to execute encapsulation runs with precision, document processes thoroughly, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact product quality and innovation timelines.
Core Responsibilities
  • Operate encapsulation equipment to fill hard-shell capsules with powder, pellet, and granule formulations according to batch records and standard operating procedures
  • Support R&D trials by preparing small-batch prototype runs, adjusting fill weights, and recording all process parameters with accuracy
  • Perform in-process quality checks including capsule weight verification, visual inspection, and leak testing
  • Clean, assemble, disassemble, and perform routine maintenance on encapsulation machinery following validated cleaning procedures
  • Accurately complete all batch records, logbooks, and deviation reports in compliance with GMP documentation requirements
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists to troubleshoot formulation or equipment issues that arise during experimental runs
  • Assist with equipment changeovers between product runs and ensure all materials are properly labeled and segregated
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant production workspace at all times
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and process improvement projects as requested

Must-Have Requirements
  • Minimum two years of hands-on experience operating encapsulation equipment in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices as they apply to dietary supplement or pharmaceutical production
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately complete batch records and production documentation with minimal errors
  • Experience performing in-process checks and basic quality control tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during production shifts
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving production issues
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift based on R&D project needs

Benefits and Perks
  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $45,000 to $60,000 based on experience and qualifications
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for employees and eligible dependents
  • Paid time off including vacation days, sick leave, and observed holidays
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions
  • Opportunities for professional development, skills training, and career advancement within the organization
  • Supportive team culture that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Stable full-time schedule with consistent hours in a modern, well-equipped production facility
  • Employee wellness programs and additional perks designed to support work-life balance
